…are the featured songs on The History of Rock ‘n’ Roll DVD Volume 4, Episode 7 “Guitar Heroes”. Les Paul’s invention of the electric guitar paved the way for later Rock ‘n’ Roll guitar heroes. The rock music documentary was originally broadcast on April 17, 1995, on the Prime Time Entertainment Network.

The ten-episode television documentary mini-series was produced by TL and were later released on VHS, DVD, and reran on TLC and VH1. The latter showed all ten parts in the last 10 weeks of the year 1999 on Friday night as part of a countdown to the year 2000. The series covers Rock Music from the 1950s to the 1990s and features over 200 exclusive interviews with many well-known artists and other music industry figures. #rocknroll #rockhistory

GRAVE BATHERS continues to make strides in the streets by writing, touring, and playing with great acts such as Ruby The Hatchet, Blackwater Holylight, Rifflord, Deathchant, Warcloud, Tower, Scorpion Child, Zed, Howling Giant, Amplified Heat, Ecstatic Vision, Holy Death Trio, Heavy Temple, Mick’s Jaguar, and many others. Their momentum is no surprise: the band boasts the decibel-smashing guitarist Jaret Salvat-Rivera of Heavy Temple as their lead riff ripper and later added drummer Sean Lafferty of Yatra into the fold to forge their most dominant lineup yet. Als der Rock 'n' Roll nach Hamburg kam | Unsere Geschichte | NDR Doku

Im Radio wurde “Tutti Frutti” von Little Richard rauf und runter gespielt, Bilder von Elvis, dem “King”, zierten die Wände von verliebten Mädchen, die Welt tanzte wild zu “Rock around the clock” von Bill Haley: Mitte der 50er-Jahre brach in Hamburg ein neues Lebensgefühl aus. Hamburg war im Rock-‘n’-Roll-Fieber. Zum ersten Mal gab es eine Musik von Jugendlichen für Jugendliche. Sie war Ausdruck und gleichzeitig Rebellion einer neuen, jungen Generation, die nichts mehr von Kriegs- und Nachkriegszeiten wissen wollte, die sich von der Sittsamkeit und Autorität der Erwachsenenwelt löste.

Kiez-Wirtin Rosi McGinnity erinnert sich: “Wir wollten alle weg von zu Hause und wollten mit unseresgleichen zusammen sein. Immer dieser Druck und immer nur gehorchen. Und dann kam diese schnelle Musik, sie veränderte alles.” In den Straßen sorgten “Halbstarke” und “Rocker” für Aufregung, Eltern und Lehrer verteufelten die “gefährliche Affenmusik”.

Doch der Rock ‘n’ Roll war nicht mehr aufzuhalten – ob aus den Musikboxen in den Kneipen, im Autoscooter auf dem Hamburger Dom oder in den Live-Clubs auf der Großen Freiheit: Rock ‘n’ Roll sorgte für wilde Zeiten und war der Soundtrack einer neuen Jugendkultur. Die Ankunft von fünf Jungs aus Liverpool im Sommer 1960 und die Eröffnung des Star-Clubs im April 1962 waren die Höhepunkte in der musikbegeisterten Hansestadt. Deren Mythos hallt bis in die heutige Zeit nach.
